We had a rest day in Whitehorse today! our first one of the trip! Yeehaa!
We slept in late, before going on a Mission to find some decent coffee.
Not that bitter, weak tar like crap that they have in Diners that you see in movies, and really does taste as bad as you imagine, but a proper Italian style coffee.
And where is (pretty much) the only place you can find such a small luxury?
FUCKING STARBUCKS.
In Australia, I will bad mouth Star-Fucks from one end of the continent to the other, but when all you can get is "drip-o-lator ash-tray filth" coffee - Starbucks is like a fucking Chalice full of magic elixir crafted by Roman Gods.
After a couple of extremely large Cappuccino's we wandered the town, visiting a Hunting Store where we both bought Browning Caps, and spent a little time looking for Canadian Flag Stickers for our Panniers (no joy), we went back to our digs, got changed, and rode out to Takhini Hot Springs, just 30km from town.
We both had our fair share of aches and pains, and decided a good long hot soak would be just what the Doctor ordered.
The ride out was nice, although quite hot, and the hot springs were very welcome. There was a warm and a hot pool, the latter being divided with a wall across the pool and a couple of gates that could be opened and closed to get in, and to stop the waters mixing.
I spent a great deal of time in the hot pool, although Megan professed it to be too hot for her after a couple of minutes.
It was wired, trying to enjoy the hot Water, while also trying to stay out of the baking Sun. I eventually hunkered down in the little shade made by the dividing wall in the pic below.
There were a couple of resident 'ground Hogs' one was quite friendly, but not having a camera while in the pool - I was unable to get a pic of the little guy.
After a couple of hours, we got dressed, and headed back to town, Racing yet another thunderstorm on the way.
We arrived back a little less stiff, and a lot more relaxed before heading out to Dinner - Craft beers and bar snacks!
Watson Lake Tomorrow!
