Tok to Beaver Creek (Yukon)

We rolled out of bed at 7 this morning and went to the restaurant for breakfast.

We only had a very short ride today so we had a bit of a lazy departure. We would ride about 170km and cross over into the border into the Yukon and Canada, ending up in a little town called Beaver Creek.

Mostly we wanted to have breakfast because we saw Reindeer sausage on the menu at dinner the night before. I had also seen 'Biscuits and Gravy" and having seen it in a film once was eager to try it.

The portion would  have probably fed two people, but I managed to eat most of it for some reason. Biscuits are Scones, and the gravy 'sausage gravy' was like chicken stock flavoured white sauce, with small pieces of sausage in it. Weird yes... but tasty none the less. The reindeer sausage reminded me a lot of the Summer Sausage I have make at home with Venison.

The day started out somewhat grey again, but I thought we would be ok on the rain front. we loaded up the bikes and got onto the road about 9am.

It was a short run to the border today, only about 170km, but it included a border crossing, so we left a short ride as we didn't know how long it would take to cross the border.

It turned out to be un-eventful, we declared our bear spray, but they didn't even want to see it. They stamped one of our passports (weird) and let us go after a short wait.

After that we were officially in the Yukon!

When in a cliche.... These Burgers were great

Biscuits & Gravy, hash and reindeer sausage.....all for 1 person...

After the rain the sun came out for a little while

The average 5th wheeler - we have seen literally hundreds of these. It's obscured by the tree, but it attached in the tray of the truck to make a mini semi-trailer sort of

Midway through our late lunch a Bus Load of Amish turned up. I tried to take this photo surreptitiously from the other side of the room, but this old lady used her Jesus power on me.

  1. That Burger looks awesome. My jealousy grows with each photo sent! Have a safe ride into Whitehorse. Just snowed down to 800m in the snowies here. -1 to -6 lows in jindy next 7xdays.

  2. Man that burger :). Was this from the establishment of Ms Buckshot? How come Amish get to ride on a bus? Satan will be getting in behind for that one.
