Well today was our first day of mediocre riding... (yeah I know... boo fucking hoo you fucking fuck!)
It started out overcast and cool and windy when we left St Marys, but as we rode further south it turned out hot - 28 degrees and sunny! we've no had no rain for 4 days now (I'm touching the fuck out of this wooden table right now)
The start of the road from St Marys had a few really tight twisties for the first 30km of so, followed by a few rolling hills and then.. BAM.. it just opened out flat and green with no trees to speak of at all.
The scenery was very reminiscent of Cooma! wide open grasslands, two lane highway, not as much roadkill though... although I did see my first Skunk today, albeit as a road pizza.
Everywhere Ranchers were out making or bailing hay. Everywhere we turned, there were acres of bails waiting to be picked up, or self propelled irrigators hosing down the dry grass. The riding was not so spectacular as yesterday, but it was nice to have a 'mong out' and not feel the need to look at everything.
We rode through small agricultural towns, one with a set of massive grain silos - and that was about it, after about 800m it was back to the fields and hay crops again! Weird!
Riding through a small town called Browning, I counted SIX fireworks stalls in the space of 5 minutes.. and 5 minutes was the whole town! start to finish!
Anyways after 250km it was over and we hit Great Falls about lunchtime, checked in and got a beer,
We're off to Bozeman for JULY 4th fireworks and frivolity tomorrow. I'd better check how many fingers I have right now, and enjoy them while I can.
I'm off to flip a few people off and practice my gang signs.
